 If you are one of those who think your website (blogs included) is plain, consider jazzing it up with widgets.
What is a widget anyway? To heck with the official definition. Surf over to www.widgetbox.com where many widget examples await you.
Widgetbox is a directory and syndication platform for web widgets for blogs and other web pages. They work with TypePad, WordPress, Blogger, MySpace as well as most other blogs, sidebars or websites. No plug-ins are needed, and they're free!
At time of writing, Widgetbox has served 98,351 domains and counting. There are so many choices that I guarantee you will be bedazzled. :P
For those who are still not satisfied, you can check out e.g. www.google.com/ig/directory that is primarily serving iGoogle. But hey, those widgets can be used anywhere else too. =)
PS.: Too many widgets will slow down the loading of your page. Enjoy playing with them, but use them sparingly and with caution. ^^
